A gem begins with a rough stone. Uncut, however, the stone is worth little, only the hard, patient work of a jeweler converts it into the sparkling beautiful jewel we love. We at Mamaroneck see our school as such a gem. The physical plant of MHS is the raw stone, its classrooms, laboratories, shops and special facilities form the base upon which the finished product is formed. Our jewelers are eminently qualified: the Board of Education, the administration, the faculty, and, of course, the student body. Together, these people have worked to create an institution whose bril- liance in education matches the brilliance of a gem. The MHS gem is truly multi-faceted. The wide range of courses available to students adds lustre, each program in- creasing its brilliance. For tomorrow's scientists there are well-equipped laboratories and qualified instructors. Chem- istry, physics, biology, health, and psychology courses all are available. Our craftsmen have fine shops and tools, as do our homemakers. For the artistically inclined there are studios and materials and teachers to guide their work. Students interested in the liberal arts may choose from among the many languages offered, the English courses, and social studies courses.
