.IEANETTE WOHLERS I Can Cook, Too Jeanette has given much service to our school. She has devoted a great deal of her time to the Oracle Business Staff of which she has been Assistant Business Manager. She has also participated on the Oracle Literary Staff and the Pep Club. Jeanette has been an active member of the Student Police as well as Chorus. Her interests have also included sports and Sport Night. Her future plans are college and a major in home economics. CAROL POLLACK Thou Swell Vivacious Carol, Typing Editor of the yearbook, has participated in many sports including Hockey, Bowling, Basketball, Stunts and Tumbling, and Softball for which she has received her shield. Carol was a member of the Girls Leaders Club. She has been twirling for Malverne since she entered the school, rose to Head Majorette for the past two years, and has won a key, many medals, and a trophy for her skill. After graduation she is headed for a secretarial career. ,IUDITH DAUM Jumpin' Judy An active member of the senior class, Judy has been Secretary and Treasurer of the Student Council. For two years, she has been elected to represent Malverne as a public officer in Mineola on Careers Day. Hockey and Baseball have been her favorite sports. She has been a member of Chorus and A Cappella Choir, of which she is secretary, as well as being chosen for the Octette. Judy plans to attend Roanoke College. Virginia to train for a career in teaching. CAROL BROMBACKER Sparkling And Bright Carol has been a very busy girl during her four years at Malverne. She was the Circulation Manager of the Oracle in her senior year. secretary of Chorus, and a member of A Cappella Choir. Carol also participated in sports and was President of Girls Leaders' Corps. Besides being on Library Council, she was a member of the Future Teachers Association, and after college hopes to pursue a career in teaching. KAREN ROSENTHAL Happy Talk One of our busiest seniors, Karen's activi- ties include Booster Manager of the 1959 Oracle, participation in sports, and service on the Library Council and Student Police for the past four years. She has worked on the Mule Business, Literary, and Circulation Staffs. In addition, she worked on the Student Council and Decoration Committee for the Junior Prom. Her experience in the Future Teachers of America will aid her in her goal as a teacher of handi- capped children. JOYCE MOTYKA I Want To Be Happy Joyce served her school on the Oracle Staff as Correspondence Manager in her senior year. She was kept busy as secre- tary to a faculty member, but also found time to work on the Mule and Oracle Busi- ness Staffs. DOROTHEA ANHALT When You.'re Smiling Dar has ac- complished much in her years at Malverne. She has been active in many sports, and won the coveted shield. She has been kept busy also typing for the Mule Business Staff, taking part in Sport Night activities, and earning herself several honor certificates. Dar is a business major and her future plans indicate a junior college and then the life of a business woman. MARGARET ANDERSON All American Girl Migs has al- ways been interested in sports. Stunts and Tumbling are her favorites. She was a Sport Night member and Jay-Vee and Varsity Cheerleader. Her other activities included the Business and Literary Staffs of the Mule. After high school, Migs plans to attend business school before entering the business world. KATHERINE ADAMS Dain' What Comes Naturally Kay, a happy-go lucky member of our class, has spent many a gay year at Malverne. She has participated in several sports such as: Volley- ball, Basketball, Hockey, and Softball. Kay has also been an en- thusiastic member of the Pep Club. In the future she plans to attend nursing school. GARY ARMSTRONG If They Asked Me, I Could Write A Book Gary likes to read baseball and Mickey Spillane novels, and write short stories. He is an amateur disc jockey and enjoys ballads and mild rock 'n' roll. He aspires to be a novelist and a professional disc jockey. He loves baseball, and is a Dodger fan. Gary is treasurer of the Luther League and editor of the League newspaper. He was also Sports Editor of his junior high school newspaper and a member of the Mule Staff, Drama Club, and Co-captain of Cross Country. FRANK BAGENSIE Got The World On A String During his years at Malverne High School, Frank has served on Visual Aids Staff and Student Council. He has participated in Junior Varsity and Varsity Basketball. Much of Frank's spare time was occupied by singing and by presiding over the youth group in his church. Frank plans to go to the Merchant Marine Academy at King's Point and then hopes to enter the commercial fishing industry. .IUDITH BERLIN Blue And Sentimental Judy's activities con- sisted of Mule Circulation and Typing Staffs, Pep Club, Cadettes, and she has held the position of Homeroom Secretary. She has vol- unteered much of her time to the decoration committees for our dances. As a Sport Night member and a sports enthusiast, Judy earn- ed the cherished shield award for outstanding athletics. GEORGE BOLCH Little Nash Rambler George, a sports en- thusiast, listed Baseball and Football as his favorites. He has also been interested in reading American history adventure stories, especially those of the Civil War period. Tinkering with cars has been another hobby. In the future, he plans to join the Navy and has hopes of purchasing his dream car-a white Mercedes convertible. ROBERT BOVE Do It The Hard Way Bob was a member of the Chorus in his sophomore year which was preceded by a year in Junior Keynotes. He was also on the Student Police Force. Work- ing after school has taken up much of Bob's time. He enjoys work- ing with cars and most of his hobbies center around this interest. Bob plans to go to college. DAVID AKSEL Little Things Mean A Lot David was active in Tennis and Chorus, President of his homeroom, manager of the Freshman Baseball Team, and winner of a photo contest. He also sang in A Cappella Choir. David plans to attend college and work toward a career in chemistry or psychology. FREDERICK BAUER ln My Own Quiet Way During his years at Malverne High School, Fred has participated on the Bowling Team and Stage Crew. Beside this he has been active in outside activities such as church work. His hobbies include sports and mechanics. Fred's future plans include attending Farmingdale Insti- tute of Technology to prepare for a scientific career. CHARLOTTE BAK Getting To Know You Charlotte came to Malverne in her senior year from Andrew Jackson High School. At Andy Jackson, she participated in Swimming, Basketball, Softball, Volleyball, and spent much time working in the Homemaking De- partment. At Malverne, Charlotte has carried over many of her previous activities and has been an active member of our class. MARK BARA Spanish Cavalier lndustrious Mark is an active member of the Spanish and the Current Events Club. He has also taken an active part in his church organizations. Thinking of his future, he held part time jobs to help pay for his college education. Mark's hobbies are fishing, hunting, and weightlifting. After gradua- tion he plans to attend college and pursue his studies in the field of natural science. Page 29
