J y, ff tm' .J deem lfAlJlfl3 for the first semester bv vivacious President Alane McCor111iclt, the Student Asso- ciation had almost lll0'j membership, .llitl began anew the task of providing fun and re- wards for tl1e students of Malverne lligh School. 4Iane's able helpers were W',llllLll1l lfischer, vice presidentg Charles Brower, treasurerg and .lessie Purves, secretary. The Council sponsored .1 semi-formal Cfliristmas dance, wl1icl1 promises to become an annual function. Certificates were presented for meri- torious scholarship records, and Honor Society pins and certificates were awarded to those who had earned them, The Council provided a huge basltet of chrvsanthemums in honor of Mal- verne's gold star heroes. This w.1s placed in the lobbv under tl1e honor roll to commemorate Armistice Day. A huge gailv decorated Christ- 111as tree filled the lobby with cheer during the Yuletide season. One of' the most entertaining assembly progranis was tl1e one financed by Student Association Page thirty funds. when Glenn Brown and his two .1ssoci- ates presented .1 full period of marimba, Xylo- phone, and drum 111usic. The interclass plays were another liighlv successful Association project. By belonging to the G. O. students had a special discount o11 the price of tickets to athletic events, dances, and other school func- tions. Matters brought before the Council made it advisable to form a Teen Age Council and a Senior Executive Committee. The former con- sidered plans for establishing .1 teen-age canteen outside of school, while tl1e latter assumed re- sponsibility for the senior cl.1ss finances. Tl1e second term brought .1 change of oflicers, with W'illiam lfiseher, presidentg -lane Mc- Cormick, vice president: Willi.1111 Theobold, treasurerg and Doris w,ChlCl'lllllI1I, secretary. This vear Mr. Archer, who has been Student Council adviser ever since he was appointed principal, found l1is administrative duties so pressing that he turned this taslt over to Mr. Forman, who has liept the organivation 11p to its fine record of achievement.
