Sometimes problems in chemistry or geometry became particularly knotty, but we struggled through them. At the end of the year many of us found ourselves rewarded with places on the honor roll. In school proiects we gave heartily and cheerfully. The chance drive, the mission collection, and the Christmas food drive all received wholehearted support from the juniors. The Friar's Lantern, the Malvernian, the glee club, and the spring musical received junior contribution. For three years we have worked under the guidance of our teachers here at Malvern. We have tried to do many things, most of all, to become good men. We have not always succeeded, often it seemed we were losing. But a prayer in the chapel, a few words of advice, a reassuring pat on the back unfailingly put us back on the right track. Stepping into our final year at Malvern, we will soon be out in the world, on our own. With God's help we will continue to work toward the two great goals we have set, true success in this life, eternal happiness in the next. ..lllUNllUR CLASS UlF'lFlI4ClE.RS pi Harran, JUNIOR WH M Cashore, -l- Brucler' A' Murph lTExW' Slierm , . We fell into the routine of school life with more SAVOIR FAIRE and with the same enthusiastic spirit we felt as freshmen. The extracurricular scene found us with many standouts. Twelve in our class found berths on the football squad. Sophomores also starred on the hardwood and on the cinders. Baseball and Wrestling also filled the afternoons of many. The Mal- vernian, the Friar's Lantern, the Rifle Club, and both dramatic productions appre- ciated our efforts. Our unfailing attendance at school functions, such as games, dances and meetings proved further our flourishing school spirit. However, our real ideals are not those - of sports and glory, but those of honor, morals and academic learning. SOPHOMORE WHITE-S T A N DIN G: J. Straub, J. McGill, SITTING: S. Saul, G. Wolfington. Father Coffey began his first year as Headmaster, replacing the beloved Father Dennis. After sur- viving the dreaded Freshman Day unscathed, we settled down to the work at hand. We have shown outstanding ability and keen interest in all our school activities. Scholastically, we did not set the world on fire, but we are well on our way to greater accomplishments. Athletically, we have provided many of the teams with good and easily adaptable material. The experience gained this year was of inestim- able value and will assure that Malvern will be a feared adversary. The Freshman Class expresses deep appreciation to the faculty and upperclassmen, whose good example influenced us on to more and better achievements. It is our sincere hope that we have not inadvertently done anything to detract from the good name of this school, and regard the honor of being called a Malvernian with everlasting pride. GRIIIDIIIRON MIEMORIIES The spirit of Malvern's football teams throughout the years has always personified those necessary qualities requisite for a winning team. This past year she gave Us few scoring victories. Nevertheless, she proved unanimous to both coach and student-body her unfaltering spirit. This achievement, rather than topping another team, we feel to be a more important accomplishment, and, for the Malvern Eleven, this was second nature. MR. MICHEAL MAYOCK MR. JAMES AUCH MR. BASKETBAL MEMURHES The best way anyone can describe this year's Varsity Basketball team is to say that they are champions. The main reason for honoring our team with this title of champions is not because it won the title, but rather because it was a team that started at the bottom and worked its way up the ladder to the top. On the way up the ladder, the Malvernians ran into many obstacles including several iniuries. However with the firm conviction that The team could not be beaten-and would not be beaten they lunged forward. Brilliantly coached by Doctor Powers and Mr. May- ock, and spirited by All-ln- terac co-captains Vince Wolf- ington and Bob Kelly, the Friars ended the long, hard season having achieved their goal-lnteracademic League Champions. Coach Powers talks to starting team. We should not only be very proud of this season, we should also try to follow it next year with another. To every member of this year's team we would like to offer our sincere congrat- ulations for a job well done. N V, wohfmqfxo Cf' 'ffm co-CHPW Qcapfain X X If , - '-gy. All-Inter-Ac-J. O'Brien, R.
