Su rintendeni Closs Advisor Fred H. Swasey Mr. Fred H. Swasey, Superintendent of Halvern Schools, was born on May 13, 1918 at South Berwick, Maine. Fart of his education was obtained in Maine before the family moved to Ohio where he completed his schooling and graduf ated from Ravenna City High in 1936. Hr. Swasey obtained his Bachelor,of Science Degree from Kent State Univer sity in 1942 and his H School Administration school'in State, he wrestling State A.A. aster Degree in from the same 1951. While attending Kent was active on the gym and teams. Mr. Swasey won the U. and Y.N.C.A. titles in the 145 lb, class. At present he is helping to coach the Canton Y.M.C.A. team. Supt. Swasey is a veteran of World War II, having served oversees with the 3rd Army. Before entering the teaching field, Mr. Swasey served as Physical Director of the Mt. Vernon Y.M.C.A. He has served as S11pBI'i1'1'G6fldent of schools at Ke11y's Island and Streetsboro. He is married and the father of three childreng Sue who is nineg Richard who is seveng and Kenneth who is four. Q John T. Gidlsy Nr. John T. Gidley, our Class Advisor, was born in Ravenna, Ghio on January 17, 1912. He was educated in the schools of that city, graduating from Ravenna City High School in 1931. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Kent State University in 1936 and after a year of post-graduate work at Kent State, he became Principal of the Botkins Schools. Mr. Gidley taught at Hartford High School before becoming Superintendent of Perrysville Schools. In 1944 Mr. Gidley accepted his present position as e teacher in the Malvern schools. During the war years he acted as football coach, his 1944 and 1945 grid teams held consecutive 18-O and 6-O victories over Waynesburg. The 1945 Football team was the first Malvern team to defeatlivfinerva in a regulary scheduled gene turning the trick 2-O. Mr. Gidley has also served es director of many of the school olays. He has acted as Class Advisor to the Senior Classes of 19495 19515 and 1952. He is married and the father of one son, John Michael, who is a student in the econd grade. fx . Q s Tn
