' ' ' ' n 1 I HISTORYOF THE CLASS OF'5I As I went to Socral ec one mornrng I was mrndmg my own busmess as usual when Mr Mrkesell our soclal ec lnstructor sald we needed a class h1stor1an Some sly lrttle character rn the back row nommated me to wrrte II and look who s talkmg now Everyone knows we have been a brtllrant class ever s1nce the frrst grade But as we entered the doors of MHS on that frrst fateful day we lost some of our so called prestlge We all stood 1n the halls wondermg what to do and where to go when all of a sudden bells started nngrng all over the butldrng A brg tough lookmg man wrth a bald head came and told us to go up to the assembly and take a seat Th1S same man Mr John Mrkesell of course took over and got us llned out w1th books and all the HCCCSSIIIES for our new lrfe rn hrgh school The next few weeks went along pretty smoothly untrl one day at four o clock our class was ordered to stay after school About f1ve sophomores came around handrng out slrps of paper tellrng us what to wear for 1n1t1at1on We all scurned home and borrowed all the old clothes we could frnd around the nerghborhood The next mornmg forty f1ve scared wetrd creatures came slrnkmg to school and at the door there were those awful sophomores w1th lrpstrck and stmkrng perfume Such a day we were sure we would not lrve through II The rest of the year went along farrly smoothly thank goodness! History of the class of '51 continued Along came spring and with it the junior-senior banquet and prom. Grumbler Grumbles continued: We begin our typing and erasing, but of course, before this we must have our daily five minute period of chattering before class and when the teacher finally stops us about ten minutes of class is gone. We, of course, get a lecture on how to conduct ourselves in school, which should definitely DOI happen to a senior. Finally that bell rings and we are plowing toward our next classes. We enter now public speaking class, of which we approve because we can talk. But our one gripe against this is that we have to get up in front of the class to do it. Then comes the time which strikes joy to our hearts because it is only one hour until four o'clock and freedom. Now comes the time when some of us leave school for T St I and others straggle to the library or various classes and wait until that little buzzer brings four o'clock.
