VO-TECH This year five students attend- ed the Saline County Career Center (Vo-Tech). Four students attended in the morning and one, in the afternoon. They were David George, Trish Chapman, Lisa Edde, Lona Gorrell, and John Roll. David and Lisa enrolled in the Buildings and Trades classes in which they learned how to con- struct buildings. Trish and John enrolled in Electronics classes in which they learned to repair items such as radios. This was John's second year. Lona's interest was in the Business area — Marketing and Microputers. In these classes she learned how to buy mer- chandise for stores and how to sell it, as well as how to program the computers. MATH LEAGUE The Malta Bend Junior High Math Stu- dents attended the Math Relays held at Warrensburg on Saturday, April 11. The Math Relays are contests between schools competing in the small schools division. Those placing in the competition in- clude: Katherine Kersten — 1st place in In- tegers, 1st place in Number Sentences, and 9th place in Geometry. The High School Math League turned out a little better in the standings this year. This year nine schools dropped out of the competition midway through the year, plac- ing us much better than last. The top five scorers were Lea Carter, 14 points; Carol Kiehl, 11 points; Paige Schroeder, 8 points; Cheryl Trelow, 6 points; and Tracey Haley, 6 points. 29
