With much rain in the spring many of the track meets were postponed or called off completely. Although the teams were small in number, they came through in tough situations. Kirk Gauldin came through in fine style at the District Meet. He compiled 36 points by winning first place in the 120-yard high hurdles and the triple jump; Kirk placed second in the high jump and long jump. The girls weren’t quite as outstanding, but received a few medals throughout the season. The 440-yard relay team won first place at the Northwestern Relays and the 880-yard relay team finished in third place at that meet. 29
