first half of season ends with 3-2 record The first half of the 74-75 season, Malden, the eventual GBL co-champions, had a record of 3-2. Malden won their opener against Chelsea, but lost a hotly contested 14-0 decision to North Quincy. Malden returned to winner’s forum to dominate the Haverhill team on their own field, raising their record to 2-1. The best game of the year pitted the eventual league co-champions, Malden and Peabody, against each other. There was a last minute rally but the inspired offensive unit, led by Steve Carlan and John Stanasek, fell short in the dying seconds leaving Malden in a .500 season. Having experienced the taste of victory and defeat, Malden found out it wanted victory and steamrolled on to 6 straight wins. 24 FOOTBALL
