In Memoriam Abraham J. Oxman 1911-1970

I have known Abraham Joseph Oxman since we be- came classmates at Malden High School forty years ago. To describe Abe's qualities as an educator is easy. In essence, he was the dedicated classroom teacher: sincere, compassionate, creative, demanding, yet Hexible. I know how devoted he was to the idea of individualism seeking to learn something about each student in order to give him that special attention which might motivate an otherwise indifferent pupil to achieve some success. He was quick to smile - symbolic of his warm, generous nature. As the Faculty Manager of athletics, Abe was known to many colleagues in other communities. He was re- spected by his associates for his business acumen and as one who accepted the responsibilities his position re- quired. Whatever the assignment might be, his friends knew it would be done properly. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a true gentleman. Samuel Fishman 5- task!
