Ryan Boston College-B.A. English Department Head This year twenty-five new sets of literature books and eight sets of grammar books were added to the English Department. Among these were Of Mice and Men, To Ki!! e Mockingbird, Black Like Me, and Robert Fro.ft'r Poems, as well as others, which were added to provide variety and flexibility to the course. On November 4, Miss Lois G. Goddard, Miss Mary M. Connor, and Mr. John A. O'Brien attended a Teach- ers' Reading Workshop at North Reading where they learned about new methods and equipment to help accelerate a st'udent's reading ability. In November a busload of students under the supervision of Miss Jacqueline Starr, attended Sophocles' Oedipus Rex. Sponsored by the Herald-Traveler Classical Repertory of Drama Company, the play was presented at the Rindge Technical High School in Cambridge. Shirley T. Lane jackson College-A.B.
