Tie Holiday Series 3-3 Bulldogs KOd Weequahic’s Title Bid The Bulldogs defeated the Indians 24-8 before a crowd of 3.500. denying Weequahic a share of the city title with Vailsburg. The victory tied the holiday series at 3 apiece. Last year the Bulldogs were unable to produce an academically eligible team for this, their final game; therefore the game was forfeited to Weequahic. With memories of last year's embarrassment and pain, the 1984 Bulldogs dominated the game from the opening kickoff. The Bulldogs gained 278 yards and held the Indians to 92. In the opening period, quarterback Darren Melvin threw a 29 yard scoring pass to wide receiver Ronald Morse on the third play of a 44 yard thrust. Charles Wilson, who gained 148 yards on 21 carries, ran 61 yards to cap a four play. 69-yard drive. Charles Wall, who picked up 121 yards in 15 carries, broke loose for a 69 yard scoring run in the second period to increase the lead to 18-0. The Bulldogs closed the scoring in the final period when Wilson intercepted a pass and returned it 46 yards to the Weequahic two. and. on the next play.
