CPTIMIST STAFF ED4TOWNCHCF CRYSTAL WARMACK Fimr ’% MESSAGE In our preparation of the yearbook, we always kept in mind the dying spirit of the bulldog. With this in mind we attempted to include things that in previous years had been overlooked, such as definition of an Optimist, and a tribute to Malcolm X We also kept in mind that we were a part of a whole and becase of this fact we knew that we must produce a yearbook that would be appreciated by the senior class as a whole Patience was not one of our greatest virtues. We fought a great deal of the time and tried to compromise the rest. There were deadlines to meet which made people on edge and very irritable Through all the discomforts of working under constant supervision, the “1984 Optimist Yearbook Staff managed to pull through and deliver the best yearbook possible We. the 1984 Optimist Staff take pride in our finished product and we hope the Malcolm X Shabazz Class of 1984 is just as pleased with it. Mrs. Betty Prezzy Bryant, a home economics teacher at Malcolm X Shabazz. has taken on the responsibility of being yearbook advisor. Since having come to us. she has become known to be a person of great persistence, as well as one who dedicates much of her time and energy to the student body — academically and socially Although she is a neophyte as a yearbook advisor, she is giving considerable time to developing the 1984 Optimist into a yearbook in which we can have pride. This involves staff meetings several days after school as well as lunch periods, meeting at the school on vacation or weekends to prepare to meet deadlines, and also conferring with editors at night by phone Luckily for the senior class. Mrs. Bryant has the persistence and determination not to be associated with failure .
