Where friendships are strong, it seems that the teacher and students benefit to a greater extent, not only curricularly, but socially and in non-school matters. Friendship is a natural phenomenon if the student has a genuine interest in himself and his future and the teacher is a conscientious professional. Mr . The Senate officers attended the District Officers Workshop and the group attended the District Convention in Lindale. The Senate raised funds by selling giant coloring books, holding bake sales, sponsoring a faculty baby picture contest and hosting a domino tournament for the community. From these funds a scholarship will be given to a senior Student Senate member. MABAM CANTUA fl xi XS AOFO 4 l Introducing the 'cPride of '76 The Tigers went into the season hoping to become the first Tiger Team in twenty-five years to capture a district title. But a two-game losing streak in the opening weeks of district play did away with any hopes for the number one spot. The Tigers reeled off wins in their first three games over Kerens 12-O, Kemp 23-8 and Fairfield 24-6 . With three wins under their belt they headed full force into district play, but the streak came to an end as Van bopped the Tigers 19-14. The following week hopes for a district title went by the wayside as Wills Point bumped the Tigers 14-6. The Tigers finally got back on the right track when arch-rival , Brownsboro, invaded Tiger Stadium and they bounced the Bears 7-6 to give them their initial loop win. The Tigers' glory was short-lived as Canton demolished them 27-7 the following week. Mabank journeyed to Tiger Stadium for the Tigers' homecoming game and they left wishing they had never come as the Tigers blitzed them 7-0 . District leader Kaufman was next in line for the Tigers. The Tigers finished the season on a winning note by blanking Grand Saline 28-O . The win gave the Pride of 76 a 6-4 season record and a 3-4 district mark. During the year the Tigers totaled 135 points compared to their opponents' 109 . Benny Rogers . Y. .nllgw nf. Mrs. Gladys Lawson Miss Judy Johnson, Physical Education Aide, helps choose teams for a basketball game. Friendship very definately relates to teaching. Being a true friend to students will gain their trust. This trust enables the students to realize that the teacher is looking out for their best interest.
