nikki gentille, junior captain; and sue thompson, sophomore captain .... paula sturges, barb howell, pat jose, pam rudd, joyce todd, larrine sutton, teresa english, kathy fulsom, carla majors. sixth row: kathy baker, debby riley, hanna wirschke, candy holland, barb wells, nancy cave, vicky freiberger, cindy austin, kathy schneider. seventh row: barb schmal, debby hartstein, peggy sauter, linda jones, kathy schmidt, joyce turner, gayle savage, barb evans, denny bowen. eighth row: suzanne brooks, ellen pershing, denise mckinley, cary miller, kathy oliver, judy silbert, helaine cooper, shirley fisher. boys’ state and girls’ state two of the 1500 representatives at boys’ state were malabar delegates, mike beard and greg woerth . . . they journeyed to ohio university in athens, ohio on june 13. 1968 and remained until june 21... greg ran for and won the office of clerk for the senate, while mike was elected to the house of representatives . . . both agreed that one of their most interesting experiences was when governor james a. rhodes spoke to the entire delegation . . .. barb ferris, malabar delegate to girls’ state, attended the conference at capitol university in columbus, ohio from june 17—24 . . . she spent an exhausting week campaigning and was appointed to the office of superintendent of the budget at the conclusion of the week . mike, greg, and barb all agreed that it was interesting to learn about the operation of state level government through actual experience... girls’ state delegate, barb ferris. 74 boys’ state delegates, mike beard, greg woerth. becky thoman, rizza dacosta, jan wilson 75 exchange students some of the experiences encountered by an exchange student were familiar to rizza da costa even before she entered the u.s.a. . . . during the summer of 1967 she had hosted, in her home town of belo horizonte, brazil, an exchange student from america . .. this influenced rizza’s decision to apply to the a.f.s. exchange program . . . the competition was stiff, with about one hundred students petition- ing for the honor of becoming an exchange student ... after the eliminations were completed only seven remained; rizza was one of them... rizza entered the u.s.a. in august and joined her american family, mr. and mrs. woodrow wilson and their children, barb, tom, jan, and bob... rizza re- called that the best experience of her stay was a surprise party given in honor of her eighteenth birthday by her sister jan... becky thoman, malabar’s exchange student abroad, resided in both bielefield and breman, germany .. . after com- pleteing a ten-day cruise, becky met her first german family, the erich schaefers, who hosted becky from july 1 through august 18 on their small dairy farm ... then, four days before her return voyage, becky journeyed to breman, germany where she acquired a new family, the munzbergs . . . while in germany, becky traveled to such places as bonn, the east german border, the baltic sea, and the rhine.... : Malabar Yenior Class senior class play “this is the story of our growing up;
