A 'S C S 'Xe 1.8 Where your money buys more .FRONT ROW Rowlett Huntsman Markt Kelly Guthrle Faulk Heck Roberts MIDDLE ROW O BACK Mrs Riley Diggs Atkins Schreffle I' Schwe1khardt Jones Patterson ROW Cronk Long Hendrix Collins Thompson G Nevins O Steeby R Gard ash GROCERIES FRESH MEATS VEGETABLES Maltland Mo Phone 27 fo HISTORY OF EIGHTH GRADE Gerry Dale Patterson was the flrst member of our class to begln h1s formal educatlon In the autumn of l9L8, Gerry started to Kinder garten 1n St Joseph He also spent h1s next year 1n th1s c1ty H attended a school ln Omaha Nebraska when he was a second grader The school term of 1951 52 found Gerry ln the Maltland school where he became one of th1s group Elght members of th1s class began together as f1PSt graders at the be g1nn1ng of the school year l9L9 50 1n th1s school system These elght people are Helen Roberts, Ph1l1p Rlley Gary Nevlns, Donna Faulk Gall Howlett Merl1n Atklns, Twyla Heck, and Jlmmy Schreffler Jlmmy left th1s group before the end of the1r second year and moved the Bellevue D1str1ct In Bellevue Jlmmy f1n1shed h1s second grade completed the thlrd grade and a part of h1s fourth grade before re turnlng to Maltland durlng the school year 1952 53 Darlene Cronk came to Maltland from the Skldmore school at the be glnnlng of her second year ln the fall of 1950 and has remalned a member of th1s class In January 1951 Tommy Jones came from the Qultman school where he had attended durlng h1s flrst year and a part of h1s second Tlna Guthrle was the next one to joln our class Tlna began her school l1fe ln Mound C1ty where she completed her flrst grade and attended the second grade untll Apr1l 1951, when she came to Maltland As has already been mentioned Gerry Dale Patterson jolned us at the beglnnlng of the school year 1951 52, When we were thlrd graders near Oregon, MlSSOUFl and became a part of our third grade The school year 1952 53 brought us two new members Llnda Huntsman came to us from New Polnt where she had attended school durlng her flrst three years Gaynetta Kelley came to us from Graham where she had gone durlng her flPSt three years The school year 1952 53 found Gerry Dale Patterson, Helen Roberts, Ph1l1p Rlley Gary Nevlns, Donna Faulk Gall Rowlett, Merl1n Atklns, Twyla Heck, Jlmmy Schreffler, Darlene Cronk, Tommy Jones, Tlna Guthrle Romona Colllns, Llnda Huntsman, and Gay Kelley as fourth graders and 1n Mrs Appleman's room We w1sh to thank Mrs Appleman for her patlence and understandlng as she gulded us through our fourth year ln school 1953 54 found our class beglnnlng the flrst part of our last half of the elght years we would spend 1n the grades We were now flfth graders and th1s partlcular fall we galned two new members Bobby Schwelkhardt came from Mound C1ty where he had spent h1s prevlous school l1fe Judy Markt came from a rural school, R1chv1lle, not far from Oregon, MlSSOUT1 Judy had attended the f1FSt and second grades at New Polnt and the thlrd grade 1n Oregon, M1ssour1 Betty Balley golned us durlng th1s school year and remalned one of us untll our seventh year ln the sprlng of 1956 Betty returned to us Aprll 22 of th1s year to f1n1sh the elghth grade w1th us In March, 195L, Judy Kay Long came to Maltland and became a member of our flfth grade Judy came fron Clearmont, MlSSOUP1 The school year 195A 55 gave us no new members who remalned to graduate 1955 56 gave us Jerry D1ggs from the Mound C1ty school We were now seventh graders In March 1956, Rlchard Gard came to JOln us from the Parnell school . . . . . . . . e , .
