.lack E. Surrette From the desk of. . .'lack E. Surrette The theme for the 1975 Buccaneer We May Never Pass This Way Again is an excellent message to our senior class. Even though there are heartaches and disappoint- ments in the life of high school students, Mainland,Senior High School strives diligently to create happiness and unity among our school family. The Class of 1975 has been superior in attitude, pride and sincerity toward one another. This class will go down in history as the largest graduating class, the most involved in school activities and with a tremendous variety of excep- tional talent. These seniors will earn more than one half million dol- lars in scholarship funds through activity, athletic and aca- demic accomplishments. To this class belongs the musical and dramatical talent that has brought numerous Broad- way Productions and a superior marching band. May the theme of this yearbook We May Never Pass This Way Again inspire each of you to remember and appreciate your Alma Mater and to look back in retrospect to the finest days of your life. When you graduate and depart into the many facets of life in our great country, we hope you will remember Mainland Senior as your school and help us continue our proud heritage of so many years. Sincerely yours, l

The Principal's office is furnished as you would expect to find that of an executive: polished desk, comforta- ble arm chair, carpeting, paneling, drapes, stereo, flowers, pushbutton telephone. But in relation to what our principal does in the course of a regular school day, his office is more decorative than useful. lack Surrette is a man on the go. Where are you likely to find him? Perhaps you will find him in the lunchroom, in the library or in the guidance suite help- ing to solve student problems. You may see him in the corridors super- vising, discussing maintenance prob- lems with one of the custodians or in the registrar's office looking for information that will help graduates and former students. He might be visiting classrooms or conferring with the Curriculum Department about course offerings and interdisciplinary planning or attending a conference in Orlando. You will find him where the happenings are - on the foot- ball practice field, the baseball dia- mond, or at a night basketball game boosting the team. Yes, all of this and more. He comes early and stays late and his office serves only as a point of departure.
