With the money that they made in selling the ornaments, they went on a tield trip to The Muse- um ot Contemporary Art on North Michigan Avenue. Artists Unlimited also made a punch rug which they donated to Maine West. Mr. Wood, the sponsor said, The unlimited mind is an Artist Unlimited. Home Economics Club is tor students interested in the art of home econom- ics. The members of the club broaden their knowledge in the related areas ot home economics. Artists Unlimited DOnClleS Punch Rug l 124-Language Clubs The French Club is for students who are ir terested in learning about France. They mee twice a month on Fridays. They have many fund raisers such as selling candy. Arounc Christmas time in 1981, French Club attendee an international Christmas party which incluc ed Spanish and German club. Mr. Holbrook the sponsor, said, French Club is an opportl nity to use French in a social settlng. German Club was very active in 1982. The members put up a bulletin board for Home coming. They had two fund raisers, selling ta fy apples and stationary. German Club ha also set up a scholarship fund for seniors fo college. This past year the Spanish club generouslr planned to sponsor a Spanish student from c less fortunate country. To gain funds for this Spanish club held several bake sales. West Hosts First Student Congress The Maine West Speech Team Competes in thirteen different events throughout the year. Two of these events include group events which include public speak- ing, reading, and acting. Speech Team gives students the ability to communicate well with others. Mr. Ron Mills, the Speech team spon- sor, said, Maine West Speech Team students have the right to be proud of their accomplishments. The Maine West 1981 Stu- dent Congress participated ln ten student congresses throughout this area. Twenty different high schools partici- pated in student congress. Maine West hosted its first invitational student congress this past winter. Maine West Student Congress participat- ed in the annual Springfield tournament held in the cap ital building.
