TIME TO REFLECT During the busy school year, we often feel rushed. We have too little time to accomplish all that we want to do. We try to cram many Things into the all-too-scarce hours of the day. There are classes, homework, worries about college, vocations, and money. We have V-show practice, cheerleading practice, football practice, extra orchestra rehears- als, music lessons, debate tourneys, G.A.A., and club meetings. We must sell taFty apples, see the English teacher, go to detention, catch the early bus, buy The Scarlet Letter. We have to go to the bank, buy a sweater, collect for a birthday, make a prom dress, Christ- mas shop, eat, go to a party or the show, write a letter, grow up, and have as much fun as possible along the way. These hectic activities will soon be only memories of Maine West, l965-1966. But they will be important memories. We end each year a little older, a little wiser, a little more confused about life, and at the same time a little more aware of the future. After the iubilation of the last clay of school and the last weary load of books, we realize that at last we have time that is ours alone. ln the few days before we begin a iob or vacation or summer school or glorious loafing, we have a time to refiect-time to call to mind the happenings of the past year. Some memories will be painful, others mirthful, sad, embar- rassing, serious, or satisfying. The Legend staff hopes that the i966 yearbook will help call to memory your T965-T966 at Maine West. We have tried to keep the copy -the printed word-to a minimum, hop- ing that as you look at the pictures and captions and names and autographs, you will recall memories that no copy-writer could ever record. We hope the experience will serve as preparation for the even busier years to come. ,x .
