Www ' Total experience: 22 years Through Foods, Clothing, and Home Management classes directed to girls, and Family Living open to both girls and boys, the Home Economics department strives to help students identify and develop certain fundamental competences that will be effective in personal and family living regardless of the particular circumstances of the individual or of the challenges of change. Our goal is to help individuals achieve satisfaction and beauty in their own lives, dignity and assurance in their relationships with others, and to build strength within their homes and democracy in the community. Fifty years ago the first president of the American Home Economics Association predicted: The well-educated people of the future will blend art and science in a way we do not dream of g the science will steady the art and the art will give charm to science. Today our goal is to realize this predictiong we focus our attention on the development of the competences fundamental to effective living and on the achieve- ment of good interpersonal relationships in the society of today, tomor- row, or even into the next century.
