Girl 's softball catches talent After completing a 1976 season with some outstanding new talent, our Maine South girl's softball team was prepared for a winning 1977 season. Returning this year were talented seniors Lori Duncan and Meg Seng, along with the support of fine junior Kathy Pabst. Without the dedication and hard work of all the girls and the fine coaching of Miss Voelz, outstanding records for the '76 and '77 seasons could not have been accomplished. Maine South's softball team also looked forward to competing in the state champion- ships with high expectations. South was extremely proud of this team. LEFT: Meg Seng showed off her pitching form. Girls' track team remains strong in all events This year's girls' track team did very well, thanks to the experienced talent of the upperclassmen and the fresh eagemess of the freshmen and sophomore girls. Everyone gave a commendable effort that pushed the team on past their expected, realistic goals of the season. The girls met up with some stiff competition this year and by keeping their expectations high, they were able to put forth an added effort and succeeded in up- setting a number of highly ranked teams. Events such as the shot put, long jump, and the equally as stren- uous long runs and sprints kept our Hawks interested in their own indi- vidual areas while working as a team.
