Girls' badminton places first in conference meet The 1976-1977 badminton season was very successful for our girl's team. Due to many strong returning players, the girls were able to finish with a 7-0 dual meet record in the C.S.L. As a result of much practice, the team won all their meets decisive- ly and proved very competitive to the other teams. Also, this year's J.V. squad was able to finish strongly like the varsity with a first place in their division. With many unde- feated players at the conference level, our Hawks also took first place in the district meet. Obviously, with the outstanding performances of many, Coach Albrecht was very pleased. . , l KJ' ABOVE: Mary Depke contributed much to the success of the team. ABOVE RIGHT: Badminton Team: Top: Asst. l 'SY 4. Basketball team has strong year The girls' basketball team had a very strong season again this year with JV finishing first and varsity taking second in conference. The strong performances of Sue Leonard, Meg Seng and Liz Boesen will be missed next year, but the outstand- ing talents of juniors Kathy Pabst, Mary Lee and Terry Lusigna will surely pull next yea.r's team through. A premature finish to this year's sea- son was the first regional game against Ressurection. Although South was ranked number one in the region, the team was setback due to a short season. Because of the up and coming competition in girls' basket- ball, South was unable to make a showing in the first IHSA state meet but will continue to keep a positive mental attitude.
