GIRLS SPGRZS GRA o fers a variety of activities for all girls South's Girls' Recreation Asso- ciation had another successful year which included the addition of new activities. Among the usual intra- murals such as volleyball, basket- ball, badminton and softball were unusual sports like skin and scuba, golf, cross country, and conditioning which had increasingly grown in pop- ularity this year. The annual tennis and gymnastics meets were well at- tended, and a new intramural swim meet drew quite a bit of attention. Continuing a theme of trial and suc- ceed, G.R.A. sponsored the first co-ed sportnight in February. It's obvious the G.R.A. Board kept busy by keeping many girls involved. 5'-a. ': I: . ' Ji' f fix! 'i nderclass golfers land opponents tn the rough Throughout the entire golf season, the underclass golfers truly demon- strated their abilities. Sophomore Dominic Curcio was named Most Valuable Player, as Bob Bean pre- sided as captain. Other valuable players were freshmen Dave Kuech- enberg, Jim Naatz, and Steve Heinol. Valuable sophomores included John Crowl and Tim Ellsworth. Under the supervision of Coach Ross, the golfers represented Maine South during many competitive meets. As a result of the sincerity and devotion, as Well as teamwork, the underclass golf team ended their season with a 9-5 overall record.
