Our varstty fencers place second tn state meet Due to the sincere devotion of Mr. Doherty, the varsity fencing team coach, this year's foilers not only captured the conference title, but also took second place in the state championship. Mark Snow demon- strated his fencing abilities in the state competition by placing first in the state. This year, the varsity fencing team consisted of a great many sophomores who showed great promise for the future. The intense control demonstrated by the entire fencing team was indeed responsible in part for the success of the 1977 fencing season. In conclusion, the varsity foilers finished with a star- tling overall record of 10-1. 39
