Matchmaker lights the stage This year's all school play, The Matchmaker, was a farce set in the 1880's. The story concerned a rich merchant and a marriage broker who was helping the merchant to find a bride. When he went to New York to seek a wife, he was constantly con- fronted by his niece and her boy- friend and his clerk and assistant who were in New York to have a good time and to enjoy themselves. Later, there was mass chaos resulting when everyone ran into each other. The plot became even more exciting when the audience discovered that the matchmaker was actually narrowing the merchant's choices because she wanted him for her own. But the play could only have been done with the help of the crew, directors, and cast. L-. lx l X. l I Si S 2 :Ll
