All speech teams finish with successhcl season The competitive speech teams of Maine South, Contest Speakers and Debate, once again proved successful in their perfection of work. The clubs worked diligently to obtain place- ments in tournaments held at nearby schools. The chosen members studied various speeches and pieces and performed them for many judges. Also, many of the talented members Z' won trophies and awards for their accomplishments at many contests. Readers Theater also kept up Maine South's excellent reputation as a tough competitor. Students fmd Drwer s Ed and Health necessary Since the opening of Maine South, the Driver's Education Department has experienced many extensive ad- ditions. New facilities and an ex- tensive library of films was imple- mented for the benefit of all stu- dents. This year, as in other years, Driver's Ed. was taught through the three part method. On the other hand, thirteen years ago, our Health Department did not exist. Due to 1971 legislation, a mandatory program was instituted to cover areas such as mental illness, ecology, disease, nutrition, alco- hol, drugs, and tobacco. The C.P.R. first-aid course was continued be- cause of its popularity. ':j'4-21:9 c.. i
