Practice on the expressways and advanced driving instruction is lacking in the present program, however, it is conceivable that these additions will be enforced in the future. With 34 hours of classroom, 12 hours of simulators and 4 hours of behind the wheel, the Maine East Driver Education program places more stress on driving preparation than the commercial driving schools. Above Left: Behind the wheel instruction is essential to good driving. Left: Mr. Brothers survives another danger- ous journey.

English program to be expanded The addition of two new courses, Read, Think, and Write, and Faces of Evil represented the major change in the English Department. However, there will be a significant restructuring within the department next year. According to Dr. Howarth, depart- ment chairman, a change was in- stituted to insure that students would be exposed to all English skills, extending those presently taught in the existing elective program. Students will be re- quired-to take one course from each of four categories: Language Roy Howarth Department Chairman, NHS Rollin Aleshire Carolyn Calhoun Debate Patricia Collins SAVE Richard De Roo Lynn Dieter Student Council Helen Dobbins Robert Dollaske Ouroboros Varsity Soccer Clark Duncan james Farrell Ski Club Elizabeth Goerss Gail Colman Lens Paul Healy Heidi Hutson Pioneer, Quill and Scroll Charles Kessler Sophomore Soccer Leona Laouras junior Class Sponsor ll.
