Mr. Will, department chairman, would like to see classes in Career Education and Business Organization incorporated in the curriculum to help students better prepare for business. The department has increased typing credit to one unit. Despite the 16 credit offered, this year, though, typing courses continued to fill. Updated electronic equipment replaced many of the manual machines in Accounting and Office Practice classes. Data Processing classes experienced a big change in hardware with additional computer terminals, including a Cathode Ray Terminal. Enrollment in Business Education increased to 2300 students. rt exhibit colors the scene Design and Materials and Photography 1 and 2 will increase next year from JA to one unit of credit. Also, there is a possibility that Photography 3 will be incorporated into the curriculum if it proves successful at West. The addition of Mrs. Habershaw to the Art Department and departure of Mr. Cobb on sabbatical leave marked the change in faculty. Ms. Weinger and Mr, Wulff again took their students to the Brookfield Zoo where the students had a chance to practice life drawing. The work created there was then displayed for the faculty in the lounge. A wider range of projects was created in the Jewelry-making course this yearg and work in brass, copper and the combination of materials was also done. The art exhibit in May marked the departments contribution to Bicentennial activities. ,I N ,- . V studio added to Speech and Drama, The newest innovation in the department was the WMTH- TV studio in C-207. Students gained valuable experience writing, producing, and editing their color pro- ductions. Video tapes were also made and used by other departments. The Speech and Drama Department sponsored the all American plays, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, You Can't Take it With You, I Never Sang For my Father, and four one-act plays in May which were part of the Bicentennial Fair. The Debate Team, coached by new faculty NFL, Thespians, WMTH-TV member Mr. Kelly, was considered the best in the state by Mr. Jeffers. The Speech Team was the biggest in the state. Students directed V-Show and many plays this year. These projects gave the students more responsibility and decision-making experi- ence. Mr. Jeffers felt that the students learned more and the quality of the work was better. New courses added this year were History of Theater and Dramatic Literature. Mr. Jeffers reviewed the year as a good one, as There was a lot of school interest.
