MAINE HISTORICAL SOCIETY Students of American History are eligible for membership in this club, which holds the All American History Banquet in February. At the banquet honors are bestowed on students who have done outstanding work in history. Representatives for Boys' and Girls' State are chosen from those who receive History Honors. MATH CLUB This club has been formed to stimulate interest in mathematics and also to help those students who are having trouble with their various math courses. Barb Raw: jack Sinot. vice-pres., Jim Klancik, treas., Sherry Marcy, sec. CLUB This club is composed only of athletes who have earned a letter in a varsity sport. The lettermen meet twice monthly to increase and project the spirit of sportsmanship. M Club members this year ushered at as- sembly, had a hayride, had a Variety Show Act, played in the M Club- Faculty basketball game, and sold popcorn at the basketball games. Fran! MODEL RAILROADERS Scale models of large trains are the interest of the members of Model Railroaders. Railroad films bring out details and facts to the members. and high interest is stimulated. Fran! MOUNTED MAINITES Beginners and advance riders are given a chance to show their stuff in a spring horse show sponsored.by the club. Bark Row: Gavin Beglin, instructor, Carolyn Virus, treas. PARK RIDGE BOYS' BOWLING CLUB Park Ridge boys are eligible to join this club. An interest in bowling is the only other requirement. FUTURE TEACHERS' CLUB An interest in teaching will make you eligible to join the Maine chapter of the national of the Future Teacher of America. The club offers an opportunity to learn more about the rewards and qualifications of teaching. Judy Rogers, pres.g Miss Russellg Sharon Iglehart, sec., Karen Johns, treas. GERMAN-RUSSIAN CLUB A chance to talk 'German is yours when you belong to the E German Club. Club Rep., Rudy Phillips. pres., Sally Baptist. Russ. Club Rep., Mr, Marcell. GIRLS' CLUB All girls at Maine are members of this busy club. The round of activities sponsored by the club include the Girls' Choice Dance, Senior Girls'-Faculty Tea, College Day, Freshman Girls' Party, and the Mother-Daughter Parties, The club helps to unite Maine girls in friendship and under- standing. GIRLS' BOWLING CLUB After finishing a season of bowling once a week in Des Plaines, the Girls' Bowling Club holds a spring banquet. Priority in membership is given to former members and seniors. GOOD WORDS CLUB Through charitable projects and discussions on the principles build goals of positive and constructive living,this club helps to good will among the girls at Maine. The club sets up and members try to improve themselves by using the good words and actions set up by the club. LATIN CLUB The highlights of the year for members is the celebration of the Saturnalia, which is a Roman holiday celebrated simultaneously with Christmas, and an annual banquet in the spring. These occasions afford a chance for students to learn more about the customs and life of the Roman people and to understand better what they are studying. Fran! I g PEP CLUB A special section at the games is reserved for pep club members and students wearing white. These sections yell their lungs out so our boys will know we're behind them. PHYSICS CLUB Along with making a homecoming float in the fall, members build projects to be displayed at the science open house. An interest in Physics along with taking the course are the only requirements for joining this club. Science films and field trips are also a part of the curriculum. Fran! RADIO CLUB A future is built for the members of the radio club as they work on the construction and operation of radios. Maine's amateur radio station pro- vides the perfect place to learn. Activities of the club stimulate interest in social prob- lems, both on and off campus. The annual Care Drive, Co-sponsorship of brotherhood week, the mock election, and the brotherhood tour are the year's principal projects.
