4- Just like any town, we have a pretty complete list of com- munity services, too. For instance, there is our l5,000-volume library where Mrs. Janet Clough, Mrs. Margaret Johnson, and their student assistants spend busy days checking books in and out and helping us find reference material. We have our own store in the bookroom, where Mr. Harold Markworth supervises an organization that sells everything we need in the way of supplies besides handling all financial transactions that pertain to student activities. Almost the only thing Mrs. Valta McGrath, school nurse, can't do by the way of giving us a complete health service is to hand out aspirins--that would be against a state law. In addition to ministering to our aches and pains, she oversees the annual physical examinations and TB tests. Those delicious odors that begin wafting through the halls about third period are evidence that the kitchen staff of our own town restaurant is on the iob. And we've all been around at 3:45 when the custodians descend upon us with their mops and brooms, keeping our town clean. Most of us don't even stop to realize that these people also see to it that we're kept warm, repair anything that is broken, wash our towels and tank suits, help us with stubborn locker padlocks, and keep our 63-acre campus always a thing of beauty. We should be pretty grateful to these people who make it possible for the wheels of activity to run smoothly. Top left: Mr. Harold Markworth, business man- ager, and Mrs. Geneva Leggett, bookroom clerk, go over their accounts. Above and left: Scenes in the kitchen and cafeteria. Miss Janet Olin, new manager, is shown in the background. ln addition to the regular noon lunches, the cafe- teria staff is often called upon to provide food for teas and banquets.
