SlIllllllE Nof long ago-has if acfually been four years?-fhe class of '4I was a band of greener-fhan-green freshmen who lived in morfal fear of becoming losf in fhe vasf new building known as MAINE. We looked upon all upper-classmen wifh awe: and fwo words became synonomous fo us-Seniors and Success. Graduafion appeared fhen fo be fhe ulfimafe goal in life. Buf fhose sanne freshmen are seniors now, and as graduafion becomes a realify, new and larger challenges arise. Greafer faslcs musf be fulfilled: higher goals musf be affainedg we musf play for higher sfalces. And as we seniors survey fhe adulf world wifh fhe awe once reserved for upper-classmen, we find fhaf we musf also be graduafed fo fhis school of life, a school filled wifh hard lcnoclcs. As we roll up our proverbial sleeves and prepare fo faclcle fhis new iob wifh characfer- isfic vigor, we cannof help wondering whefher or nof we really are prepared. TN 4 Buf, yes, we are prepared: MAINE has prepared us. She has faughf us nof only fhe academic subiecfs over which we worlced-we called if 'slaved'-for four breafhless years buf she has faughf us somefhing more. Here we learned self-confrol, cooperafion, give-and-fake We were shown fhaf on fhe gianf checlsereboard of life we cannof all be kings. Through our feams and our clubs we learned loyalfy. Our honoraries provided fhe necessary incenfive for hard work. Social acfivifies gave us poise and manners. Courfesy was acquired from fhe necessify of close associafion wifh fellow sfudenfs and faculfy. We do nof doubf fhaf we are well-prepared, for MAINE has shaped and molded us in fhe besf of pafferns, and we are grafeful. Bur she has been more fo us fhan a feacher and a sculpforg she has been, besf of all, our friend. SENIOR SPONSORS Miss Jane Chapeclc Mr. G. S.
