Sometimes that is difficult to do since almost everyone sees the year in a different way. It would be easier to fill the yearbook with poetry and quotes, but that would not describe “our year. In this annual, the year is divided into three major areas: stu- dents, education, and happenings. We hope that through at least one of these you will discover what 1977 meant to you or maybe you will find that the year meant more than you thought. 3 Students Students 4 With all the activities, we sometimes forget the actual rea- son we're at school. Education is a very important part of the year. It is up to the individual to obtain an education. The greatest teacher cannot make a student learn although a good teacher helps. Learning is a difficult process that takes patience, determination, and hard work. Learning can become very boring at times, but the results are almost al- ways rewarding. 6 Happenings ... Football games ... Homecoming ... Dances ... Observatory Dedication Basketball ... Exams ... Magazine sales ... Christmas Dance ... Jr. Sr. Prom ... Annuals Spring Sports ... Class rings ... Senior portraits ... Redneck Day ... Field trips ... SAT ... Band and Chorus Concerts ... Graduation! 8 9 Dedication In searching for someone who was really part of the year, the senior class had little searching to do. One per- son stood out as a very important part of the year. She is much more than just a teacher. During the magazine sales, she gets behind the students and pushes them to sell the most. Being one of the most spirited persons in the school, she has participated in many pep rallies and spirit raising activities. In appreciation to someone who has a never ending interest in the students at Maiden High School, the senior class dedicates this 1977 Maido- nian to Mrs. Rebecca Ward. 11 FEATURESFEATURESFEATURESFEA FEATURESFEATURES FEATURESFEA 12 13 Fro i row: Madeline Farley, Becky George, Dana Cam] Greg Auten, fVtt hmerhardi. i mjbit Wilkinsc vin roulter. Their look of love yet still remains. The words they spoke, we hear. And in a corner of our heart Their face and form appear. Not only those we know and love But others passed along. Who yet are living by their deeds. And lead a mighty throng. A Dead Past? No that cannot be, A past lives through the years. Give hope and comfort day by day By faith, gives hopes to fears. When we realize that education Is a main part of living. The treasured memories Of sharing and giving return. We realize that growing up and Learning the responsibilities Of an adult Can sometimes be very difficult. We remember our freshman year with All the laughter and all the tears. We think about the times When we used to make up Excuses to get out of class. Now all those times are in the past- The pep rallies and all the spirit; The winning was happiness; The losing was tears. Now the day is here When laughter and tears Are mixed together. We look around and Then we say good-bye. There is one thing that Each and every one of us Will always remeber— A treasured memory of Maiden High School forever. Today we just begin And yet we've found the end. Those school days end And we begin our lives—our own. Hand in hand we've shared The moments that should last, The lovely moments that should have No future and no past. The helpful guiding hands Of our loved ones. The comfort when we've met With discouragement. The joy we have felt In succeeding. But most of all our lives Just as God's children. We've shared our lives 'til now- The laughter and the tears, And still the memories of these years Will never say good-bye.
