Miss Rita Sigmon Upon receiving a ten inch reflecting telescope presented to Maiden High School by Mr. O.N. Rich, the members of the M.H.S. Science Club set out to build an observatory. Unaware of how much actual work would be involved, interested members and sponsors got started. Many projects were organized for the purpose of raising money. Plans for the observatory began while the money was being raised. Through the work of many dedicated workers we can now proudly say that we at Maiden High are the only ones in the state of North Carolina to have an observatory on our high school campus. This alone is a great accomplishment for our school. We. the students, will have before us an opportunity to excel scientifically. It is our responsibility to do so. After five years of diligent work, great results have been accomplished by hard-working Science Club members and faithful sponsors. . m ' 1 All County Band Kevin Loos. Lisa Parlier. Carla Wilson.
