The MAIDONIAN 1965 Published by the Senior Class of MAIDEN HIGH SCHOOL Maiden, North Carolina FOREWORD To every class at Maiden High School, high school life has a different meaning. To the Freshman it is a beginning—a total new experience. To the Sophomore it is just a routine of classes and activities. To the Junior it is a wonderful experience filled with sophisti- cation and activity. To the Senior it is a mark of maturity, a symbol of the past, and a basis for the future. In the 1965 edition of the Maidonian, we have tried to convey these meanings to you in the hopes that you will cherish and remember them always. 2 IN MEMORIAM Glenn David Shook “When He Shall Die, Take Him And Cut Him Out In Little Stars, And He Will Make The Face Of Heaven So Fine That All The World Will Be In Love With Night.” Shakespeare DEDICATION OF 1965 Your cheerful countenance; Your willingness to help; Your overwhelming devotion; Your personal sacrifices; These, among the many attributes possessed by you, have inspired the Senior Class to dedicate this, the 1965 edition of the Maidonian, to you, Vernon E. Hedrick. 4 CONTENTS Administration Classes Features Activities Athletics Highlights of ’63-’64 Advertisements THIS PAST YEAR HAS BEEN FILLED WITH MANY WONDERFUL MEMORIES. THE MAIDONIAN STAFF HAS ENDEAVORED TO CAPTURE A FEW OF THESE MEMORIES FOR YOU. COME WITH US NOW AS WE JOURNEY. 66, OVER THE BLUE DEVILS’ TRAMPING GROUND’ Mrs. McGinnis stresses a point. Mr. H. S. Shepherd, Principal This has been one of our finest years. Credit for superior work must be given to the Senior class, for it has demonstrated that it is possible to achieve with a minimum of friction and lost mo- tion. Certainly it has been one of our best senior groups in many respects, and we are indeed grateful to each of them and bid them Godspeed. 10 11 Mr. Michale Sigmon Ray Von Caldwell A. A. I would like to take the opportunity to express my deep appreciation and thanks to all who have been in any way involved in my life in the delightful and friendly town of Maiden. I feel as if I now belong along with everybody else and I know it will be hard to tear myself away. Print- ed words can never repay all those who have guided and counseled me especially Mr. Shepherd and his staff at M. H. S. The most important in- fluence on me has been my wonderful, loving family. It is my sincere hope that people will retain a favorable impression of a small southern Pacific country and a kindred feeling for its inhabitants through my representation. May God bless you all!
