This is the first year we've tried it, and everybody enjoyed the suspense built up by the poetic clues which appeared in the bul- letin every day. At the bonfire on Thursday evening, October 28, Mr. Homecoming was announced to be Burt Anderson. Cheers were led by the cheer- leaders and the bonfire was lighted. Then Burt Anderson introduced the candidates for queen, Charlotte VanEaton, Beverly Rehbein, and Joan Burque Suspense mounted as co captains Jerry Piere and Raoul Dufresne crowned Charlotte queen The following day turned out cold and windy but the parade went on as scheduled Forest Lake was our opponent for the game and it was a hard fought battle ending in a 0 0 tie After the game a good time was had by all at the dance which was held in the new gym Music was furnished by Dick Kast and his chestra The dance began with the Grand March by the queen and her attendants which also included Joan Tourville Junior attendant and Judy Reynolds Sophomore attendant It certainly was a Homecoming to remember' 1' ' 'K X Q A . . . f C- .ff , I Y fxvl ' - q , . . - . It was organized as a side project of the Student Council, and there are now 53 active members from grades 7-12. Mahtomedi was well represented this year in golf by pros Bob Pat- ton, John Knopp, Jerry Pierre, and Mike Noel. Golf was coached by Mr. Gilbertson. Senior Choir 9th Grade Chorus Janice Hanson tympani, Betty Arcand, Dave Peltier, Dave DeWuski, trumpets, accompanist Eileen Casserly. Sprl ng Concert g The annual spring concert given this year featured the band, the senior choir, 9th grade chorus, girls' sextet, boys' octet, and several soloist. The music ranged all the way from sacred chorals to modern jazz. Spotlighted on the program was an arrange- ment of the hymn All Hail the Power of Jesus Name, done by the senior choir, with the ac- companiment of a piano, three trumpets and kettle drums. The music department, under the direction of Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Bastien, worked hard and long to present this concert. Everyone who at- tended will surely agree with us in saying that the students put out a most enjoyable evening of music. r . it pf.-9 V- ' 1 --es 'fs , Soloist, Sonia Reed gg , 1 , if M- fig s 'W . .5 'h.- 4 4' R 1 page sixty-nine ,1 r 1 X - ' 'wk,.i!-.-T Enjoying dinner at the Lowell Inn. - -, - f 'XFN 'L ' Junior-Senior Banquet page seventy Relaxing in the lobby before dinner. task all ll 5 The J-S Banquet was held April 30 at the Lowell Inn, in Stillwater. The menu included, among anumber of things, fried chicken, whipped potatoes, asparagus, and Jamaica rum sundaes. It was all very delicious and everyone enjoyed it thoroughly. After everyone had com- pleted the meal, farewells and be st wishes were given by Don Bader, President of the Senior Class, Dave Marshall, Presi- dent of the Junior Class, Mr. Davis, Principal and Mr. Anderson, Superin- tendent. As the evening came to a close, Helen Specker revealed the future events that are in store for the seniors by reading the class prophecy. It was adelightful ending to a most enjoyable evening. Junior-Senior Prom The Junior Class, played host to the Seniors at the annual Junior-Senior Prom on May 14, 1955. The Prom was held in the Casino Room of the Saint Paul Hotel. Dancing was from9 to 12 o'clock to the music of Joe Carlson, and his band. page SC venty One VW ii ., Q5 1 High point of the evening was the Grand March with both a London Bridge and an allemande-left effect successfully accomplished. The Junior and Senior class presidents, Don Bader and David Marshall, headed the Grand March with Their dates. As a final note to a beautiful evening, various groups went to eat in Minneapolis and St. Paul. A large number went to the Rainbow Cafe. Most of the Juniors went to the Crabtree Kitchens inCopas. We hope their fire-truck survived the antics of Bruce Fairbault and Emil Schmuck. The next day dawned bright and early with many tired couples pulling out for Taylor's Falls and other spots of interest.
