The Airborne Delivery Drop System QADDSD drop took place in the Caribbean Sea dur- ing Mahlon S. Tisdale's three month summer deployment in support of counter drug operations, and allowed the crew to repair the ANXSPS-49 Air Search Radar at sea. The P-3 crew departed Naval Station Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, flew to Mahlon S. Tisdale in the South-Central Caribbean, and delivered the part by parachute. The ship's Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat was launched to recover the part. The boat crew included coxwain BM2 QSWJ Douglas Lovell, USNR QTARQ, of Harlingen TX, engineer EN2 Stephen Lynn USNR QTARQ, of Bremerton, WA, and rescue swimmer IC3 Charles Banks, USNR CTARJ, of Arrowbear, CA. The part allowed the ship's ANXSPS-40 radar technicians, ET2 Iohn P. Parkhurst USN QTARJ of Brooklyn New York, and ET2 Kevin E. Davis USN QTARJ, of Tampa FL to get the AN!
