HAy'lNG entered M. C. H. S. as freshmen we knew that there were four years of hard work ahead of us and the first thing to do was to aecustom oursely es to our new surroundings in our best possible way After getting acquainted with our neyy en yironment vye started to shoyy the upper classmen yy hat vye knoyy and could do Basketball and football seryed as an outlet for some of the energy that a few freshmen boys possessed Several boys who were in tcrested in music added another link to their chain of extra curricular activities by join ing thc band The boys and girls who had good speaking voices took part in the Foren sic League and proved yery successful for beginners The year for making our new acquaint- ances with teachers and classmates soon came to an end. Our title was changed from freshmen to sophomores ane Keiser one of our classmates, became the new drum majorette of the band Vliss Mary Smith organized a Sophomore Honor Guard f yyhich Llcanor Lalis was made captain A group of girls from our class, chosen by Miss Rinck, sang the I aster Cantata Soon the farst half of the foui yeais yyill be reached and we, the class of 47, will be separated during the summer yacation, but in a short while, we will be working side by side in the classrooms as juniors We hayc yy orked hard as freshmen and sophomores but will work tvyice as hard as juniors GEORGF PORSTYR, 47 flaw, Jemima hNfIRl1Nb M C H S in our freshman year was like stepping into a different world Wfe were bewildered by the upper classmen busily hurrying about Shyly some of us entered into extra curricular actiyities In our sophomore year we began to arrange the pattern of our high school life eagerly joining those clubs in which we felt most interested The musicians of our number joined the Band, Orchestra Drum and Bugle Corps Homeroom representatiyes yyere elected for the ofhccs of Red Cross representatiye and Students Congress rcpresentatiye Tyyo syyift years passed and yye yy ere noyy pre aired to enter our third yen ef high s ool ur junin yeai t sm yy a ea y yy entering our third year of yyar Honor Guard Corps yy ere formed in all the elas es with the unior Class Honor Guard one of the most outstanding The purpose of the Honor Guard was to solicit the buying of stamps and bonds Other clubs to which many juniors belonged were doing their bit for the war effort The Coriespondence Club members cor responded yyith seryiccmen and women scattered all oyer the world The unior Red Cross represented the Red Cross in oui school and the Students Congress diligently sold stamps and bonds to the populace of XCHS Girls as yyell as boys entered intramural basketball Those boys vyho yyere discoy ered to haye basketball ability yyere placed ae y ane assis ed in man N S yictoi ot mall o t ae limeligl a many junior boys helped in making the season an exceptional one N Y I i .
