Thomas resigned from the Mahanoy City High School, to accept a position in the Central High School of Scranton, the fac- ulty lost one of its most valuable and popular teachers. Miss Thomas had entered into most of the extra-cur- ricular activities and her absence from these duties is keenly felt by both faculty and students. Having graduated from Maha- noy City High School with the Class of '21, she entered Swarth- more the following September, graduating with a B. A. degree in 1925. During her college life, she took part in many activities as well as some social work in Phila- delphia. She received her M. A. degree from Radcliffe in '26. Since then she has been work- ing to receive an Ed. M. from Harvard. ii -'The first year Miss Thomas was faculty of our High School, 'tiiught History and English, igiutiftgiri-ng'thepremainder of her - .4 . . ,. 5, 4 i X, fs. She also was one of our teachers who had charge of the following p r o - ductions: The L u c k y Break, The Brat and Pinafore. Because of her great intimacy with the Class of '31, she has en- deared herself to this class, and everyone was very glad to hear of her advancement in the educa- tional profession. Miss Thomas' chief work was journalism. It was through her advice and co-operation that The Nugget was able to be a prize paper at the Columbia Scholastic P r e s s Association Convention. Without her many and unusual ideas, the paper would not have succeeded as rapidly as it did. Her work will always remain and will never be forgotten by the editors and members of The Nugget staff.
