J TWH 14VV: Alhfw E I' S I JoAnn Benedickt Larry Straight Jean Rae Straight Stanley McMi1len Initiation Fifteen green freshmen were duly initiated into MHS Friday, September 9, by wearing costumes of every description and performing before the morning assembly, Friday evening found them blindfolded and ready to overcome the obstacles so ably prepared by the Seniors. Although rain dampened the outdoor festivities, spirits soared when all were treated with ice cream and cake. ZZ

Boys' Basketball Kneeling - Roy Cooper, Lyle Rhoten, Robert Forde, Bill Freymuller, Walter Gochenour, Bill Herman, Jack Lewis. Standing - Mr. Rembold, Wallis Gochenour, Raymond Mother, Bob Heady, Floyd Bedsaul, Norbert Pauley, Jim Herman, Jack Straight, Warren Michael, Buddy Alexander, Student Manager. Under the outstanding coaching of Mr. Rembold, the Magnolia Wildcats, with only two regulars returning from last year's squad, racked up a fine record of 15 wins to S losses in regular season play and the County Tournament. With the hard work of the first five -and the backing of the 'subs', they scored lO77 points against their opponents' BSS. This excellent record includes winning the Soldier Valley Conference title and fourth place in the Harrison County Tournament. Sectional tournament scores and statistics will be in the supplement, page 39. The boys' individual total points include only the regular scheduled games and the County Tournament. At the same time the shelf of Reader's Digest Con- densed Books grew to twelve volumes. The librarians helped students above the fourth grade to avail themselves of library services while Mrs. Cutler collected fines on overdue books.
