Now 27 Weeks Are Over, We Never Thought We’d Make It; But Now the Seniors Have the Privilege and They Made the Most of It. This year it was a priviledge to have Collette Matthiesen on the Magnolia High School Speech Team. Collette won a star rating in the sub-district speech con- test in Luverne, and went on to compete in the District tournament at Worthington. The 1973 declam team was advised by Mrs. Whitcomb. Collette, Magnolia High School is proud of you.

This Assembly Had Its Ups and Downs With a Trampolinist and His Wife. On March 12, we had our sec- ond assembly in which we were entertained by a trampolinist and his wife, Ursala, who was from Sweden. Six of the junior and sen- ior boys were also included in this program and did quite well in com - peting with the two gymnasts. The program had its ups and downs but it was enjoyed by most of the stu- dents. 12

Today We Are Entertained, by Our Neighbors From the South. They Gave to Us a Performance, by Word of Mouth. On April 4, we were entertained by two chicanos who sang many of the songs of their home country which in case you were wondering is Mexico. One of our leading senioritos was serenaded by the Mexicans and was thoroughly thrilled with their enchantment. The Mexicans were on tour of the United States and spoke very little English, but they seemed to be en- joying themselves very much by presenting perform- ances at high schools. 14
