L ffc Vtalk Bi ««l The Bulldog Magnolia High School Magnolia Minnesota 1972 In Memoriam Mr. Clair Dispanet, sometimes known as Mr. Magnolia, died unexpectedly on March 16, 1972. Mr. Dispanet was born on January 19, 1901, in Esterville, Iowa. He attended the Esterville High School and was the star player for football for four years, basketball for three years, and was captain of the track and basket- ball team. This was one of the reasons that he was so interested in our school activities. When Clair came to Magnolia in 1938, he purchased the Magnolia Bar and Steak House. He owned and operated it from then until the time of his death. In July of the same year, he met and married Miss Cornelia F. Pastoors, a registered nurse. They have three sons: James, Timothy, and Anthony. Clair Dispanet was very generous to numerous contributions to school activities and civic projects. He sponsored the Magnolia Athletic Banquet many times and also radio interviews for honor students. He contributed to the Christmas candy fund and also purchased sports equipment for our Athletic Department. He has also been our parade marshall for our Homecoming festivities. We have lost a true, kind, and generous friend. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. 2 Student Council Standing: Lynna Tofteland, Colleen Cauwek, Craig Rust, Pat Heeren, Jon Rust, Jack Klein, and Mr. Tutsch.
