■ THE BULLDOG 1971 MAGNOLIA, MINNESOTA DEDICATION We, the Senior Class of 1971, have chosen to dedicate our annual to Mr. Kollofski, because we feel he has helped us and influenced our high school years the most at Magnolia. Mr. Kollofski was born and raised in Winona, Minnesota. He attended Winona Senior High School and graduated from Winona State College in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He came to Magnolia in January of 1968 and has been math instructor for the past three and one half years. As well as being a great teacher, he has been a good friend to all of us. On behalf of the entire Senior Class we would like to thank Mr. Kollofski for his help and consideration, and for making our high school years at Magnolia more enjoyable. 2 ADMINISTRATION MR. TWIRLERS MARY JO, DEB, MARILYN TRI-COUNTY BAND FESTIVAL For the first time in Magnolia's history our band hosted the annual Tri-county Band Festival. Lake Wilson, Hills-Beaver, Adrian, Ellsworth, Edgerton, Jasper, Chandler, and of course Magnolia all participated. There were approximately 17 select band members present from each school. On January 11, 1971, these musicians and their band directors were split into two large bands designated by red and blue. Red band was directed by Dr. Clayton Teide and blue band by Mr. Jay Wicker. We were very lucky to have the excellent leadership shown by these two men. Diligent practice all afternoon, a great supper from the FHA, sock-hop with the Ecstacy playing, and finally the con- cert at 7:30 took care of a very energetic day's program. Some of the highlights of the concert were selections from Oliver, Rock Artistry in Blue, and Chorale and Cappricio. 25 MASS CHOIR FIRST ROW--Faye Knutson, Cheryl Holland, Debbie Halverson, Marilyn Olson, Lorraine Arends, Darlene Boltjes. Sheila Dean as Mistress of Ceremonies led the homecoming festivities. Sheila gave little hints as’to who would do this and who would do that. HOMECOMING The march was on! As Leighton played a melody of songs, the royalty slowly proceded up the aisle. Karen and Leon were the last of the couples to come up to the stage. Everyone was anxiously waiting. Nerves were getting tense as the evening progressed. Lloyd and Deb were just one set of King and Queen candidates who were nervous. Donna and Karen, the other Queen candidates, were sitting on pins and needles, as Leon and Steve (King candidates) were waiting nervously for the evening to begin. And there is was-what we'd all been waiting for. With the crowning of Deb as Queen the evening was almost over. It's too bad everyone couldn't see the smirk on Leon's face as he was crowned. The stage was empty but the memories were there to remember. The memories of that night will linger on for many years-especially for Deb and Leon. SPONSORS 46 KENNETH BANK, VANDE VELDE HARDWARE OF KENNETH, MINNESOTA. ACTIVITIES Would you believe that this is the first prize in the Homecoming parade? Actually this was only part of their float. We must commend the seventh grade on their float. It was very cute with a lot of originality. Can you believe the Sophomores were actually try- ing to work? Hardly anyone can, but their efforts proved rewarding in the end as they won the second prize. Let's Perk Up A Victory was the name of the float made by the freshmen. Quite an original idea, don't you think? Now there are some intelligent looking people who know what they're doing. If they don't, they sure make it look good. Who else could it be but the Seniors? Withe the teachers working diligently and providing helpful hints, the floats were finally completed. Now all that was left was the parade in which the wind slightly ruined all floats.
