Karla Pizio SENIORS O’NEILL TO PIZIO 107 As she returns from the scavenger hunt, Evyan Abookire, ’86, smiles and gives a sigh of relief as she carries in one of the many bags of food that were gathered that day. The scavenger hunt was held on December 11, 1983 and kicked off a food drive that lasted for two weeks prior to Christmas vacation. Each girl was asked to bring in 10 cans of food to add to that gathered on the scavenger hunt. The day began with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel followed by doughnuts and hot chocolate in the cafeteria. After stocking up on doughnuts, students and Student Council members bundled up and headed out into Rocky River and neighboring cities to collect food. When the scavenger hunt was over, frigid toes and cheeks, well on the road to frostbite, were the ex¬ ternal payments. Inside, a feeling of ac¬ complishment for all who collected food made the scavenger hunt worth all the cold. Photo by A. Sheridan.

Before the Junior Class Day ceremony, juniors Mary Richardson and Mary Biesiadny enjoy a leisurely breakfast with their mothers in the cafeteria, decorated in their class color, yellow. On December 8, the juniors celebrated their unity as a class and their official initiation as upperclassmen with a special Mass at St. Christopher Church, said by Fr. Roches¬ ter. The night before, their little sisters decorated the juniors’ lockers with bal¬ loons, crepe paper, streamers and candy. The sophomore class added a surprise to the day by sending a special gift, a singing telegram. Photo by A. Sheridan. Lisa Pompeii Gymnastics 1,2; Key Club 3. Mary Probet Basketball 3; DAWNING 1,2,4.
