The senior section of the book was planned with joy and delight. It is intended that the layout reflect sim- plicity, yet at the same time express feelings of ac- complishments. To seniors, the traditional cap and gown is symbolic of that which is dignity, stateliness, refinements and achievements. Seniors would have it no other way. The photographs of juniors are less formal. Juniors are yet hopeful of that day that shall represent the culmination of striving and study as high school peo- ple. The athletic section of the book is covered in a way so as to convey the range of and enthusiasm for these types of activities at Walker High School. The aim is not to overpower the book with sports, but to impress the reader with the importance of worthwhile teach. lessons that school sports seek to WALKER ALMA MATER Maggie Walker, Alma Mater, We would wreathe thy wall with praise We would carol adoration To thy name for endless days. Tho in sunshine or in shadows, Bright with starlight, dark with storm, Here within thy cloister You would shield us from all harm. II Therefore, onward, upward lead us With your kind unerring hand, And forever true, you'd have us To thee, God and nature land. Words and music: Willie Thomas Jones With a deep sense of gratitude, names of persons and firms in the community are listed. These are the PEOPLE who through their public spirit indicate their concern for our youth and the problems of youth. These are the PEOPLE who are concerned about the aspirations and hope of all People. This, then, is the message that this book seeks to convey. It is, indeed, the hope of the staff that this yearbook shall not only serve as a memory book, but it shall also inspire PEOPLE to higher levels of learning and achievements. Young people shall rise up And people will listen, New people shall speak And the world must act.
