Car p gue . GIRLS’ SPORTS TAKES ON NEW MEANING Basketball is one of several sports that have taken on a new meaning to girls. This year marks the be- ginning of intramural sports among girls, acording to rules setup by the Virginia High School League JV's, the Jumping group, ready to cheer for all sports events. They are: Marie Tune, Portia, Harris, Julie Johnson, and Belinda Bailey. GIRLS LEARN BASKETBALL FUNDAMENTALS: Even, girls, by now, know that basketball requires SUSAN FREE, MARIA RANDALL, ENOLA PALMER, BRENDA WRIGHT, much practice and drills. The frustrations and anxieties begin to pay off when that last night of study is over. Those throb- bings melodies in our hearts for that long awaited march become a class song. But the year dwindles away like a candle. And at the end of this candle is a new wick to light, signaling an even bigger and more challenging era.
