fi SUP RI TE DE T9 MESSAGE Greetings: Today our schools are faced with a tremendous burden in preparing our young people for the complex society in which we find ourselves, We know that this dynamic society, with automation and other technological changes, threatens to displace many individuals and their economic con- tributions. We must also be ever mindful of the great struggle to capture the minds of man today. Many ideologies, some of which threaten the very existence of our democratic principles, are ever present. Our education must provide the tools to assure economic proficiencies with facility to make the necessary transitions due to technological changes, However, the broad spectrum of our educational program must go further and establish a sound set of values so that we might face the future with vision, courage, and confidence. We must become discrimin- ating in evaluating the problems of our complex world. We hope that our educational program, through the guidance of our pro- fessional staff, has extended the educational horizons of our young people so that they might satisfactorily adjust to the many complex problems facing them. I wish to extend my most hardy congratulations to Mr. Barrow, Mr. Birdsong, the Annual Staff, and others for their outstanding contributions in making this publication possible.
