The 1957-58 Pirates en- gineered the first unde- feated regular season for the Pirates. Desire and a willingness to Work was typical of each and every boy on the squad. They finished the season with 22 wins 81 1 loss. They set a single game scoring record at 86 and a season scoring record at 1365 points. The 22 wins included victories over seven Class C teams. We are 'proud of the success of the team, a success which they so richly deserved. Lyle Hilferty at 6'3 was the big boy on the team. Lyle developed into a top scoringthreat. His shot from the c o r ne r s was deadly. He cleared the h o a 1' d s and engineered many a fast break. Lyle hit 327 points forthe sea- son. We Wish he had some more years to help the Pirates. final Hearn Neal Vlasin at 5'8 was the boy who made the team jell. He continually amazed spectators with his agility despite his carrying 220 pounds. A top rebounder and fine feeder, Neal will be sore- ly missed by the Pirates next yea r. Neal is a second year letterman. Larry Houtz at 6'2 is considered oneof the finest players to hit West- ern Nebr. inmany years. Luke hit the nets for 1220 tallies in his four years setting a scoring record his last year with 405 points. Larry was always at his best when the going Was tough. He is afour-yearletterman.
