As he gazed into his crystal ball, the first thing he sees xsg In a Chicago Hospital the nurses and doctors rush quickly to the patient, while the head doctor cries out, Miss Allen, get the operating room ready , Miss Allen, the ether, please . We are anxious to see who the efficient Miss Allen is. As we enter we find none other than one of our old classmates Barbara Allen. As we leave the hospital we see another nurse entering, she is Thelma Erlewine. We stop to talk and she tells us she is the head nurse at the Chicago Hospital. Driving down the lane in a slick new car comes the new Home Demonst- ration Agent, Mary Jean Bullock, who is making a tour of the county to dean- onstrate new electro-gas cooking utensils of her own design. She is one of mf- foremost authorities on home problems in the U. S. As she drives up to a farmhouse out runs Glenda Colson who is very eager to find any labor saving device which will be of help to her in her household drudgery. A navy cruiser bearing the stars and stripes Uncle Sam, has just anchored in the port of Honolulu. It is shore leave. For many of the sailors this means the end of their first sea voyage. Among the young sailors that come merging down the gang plank we see an old schoolmate, and believe it or not, it's Clifton Eastin. He joined the navy after graduation and now says he has a girl in every port. A prosperous looking farm surrounds the house. As the house-wife 'opens -' -V-: wr- V. -V52'f-g,.1r- .- ,V -. For sure enough, the lady is Jeanne Hoover--now Vonderfecht. A distant bell rings. Children of all ages hurry up the steps of a large school in Ddnver. They are greeted by a well-groomed teacher. She sternly orders the pupils to take their seats. Who is this efficient and well paid teacher ? ? Not until she introducted as Miss Stubblefield do we recognize her as Myrtle Stubblefield, another of our graduating class. The next person we see is Eldean Penner, who is now located on a larpf- sheep ranch, comfortably settled with his wife who learned all the details oi sheep raising at Nebraska Ag College. As we part - Eldean and his family, all bid us adieu with an emotional E35 Last as we near a large building in Los Angeles we come upon an effic- ient looking and well dressed stenographer who is taking the hour off for lunch, Of course she looks familiar, and she is Erma Alane Seiler now the private secretary to the Mutual Life Insurance Company. The visions fade as the Hindu magician's crystal ball falls to the floor as Mrs. Drennen wakes with a start as she hears the alarm go off, she gets up to go to school for her last days with the Class of 1946-1947. Erma Alane LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Seniors of Madrid High being in perfect health and sound rnind fpraise be, bequeath some of our better attributes which we find we will not be needing upon leaving this higher institute of learning. To next years Seniors we wish much luck and success. To next years Juniors we can only hope, hope, hope. To next years Sophomorew we leave three more years of hard work in M. H. S., To the incoming Freshrnen we leave our wads of bubble gum that they find in various parts of the building. And now our individual bequeaths are varied: Barbara Allen--leaves her ability to play the piano to Claire Friesen. Mary Jean Bullock--leaves her height and No. nines to Audrey Lovenburg, Glenda Colson--leaves her Five Foot One to Delores Wiebe. Clifton Eastin--leaves his angel like countenance to Kenny Kornelson. Thelma Erlewine--leaves her arnbition to Whitey Shirley. Jeanne Hoover--leaves her curly hair to Bob Tjaden. Eldean Penner-- leaves his car that stalls so conveniently on Main Street to Jackie Wiebe and Calvin Young. Myrtle Stubblefield--leaves her horse laugh to Lynelle Adams. Erma Alane Seiler--leaves her bashfulness to Charles Buchanan. The Seniors leave to Mr. Marston the second wad of gum on the third seat in the back row in the assembly. It's Spearmint, too To the School Board we leave all the xmpaid bills. To the Faculty we leave all the nice memories of the Class of 1946-1947. CLASS HISTORY 1946-1947 September 6, 1943, found fifteen green freshies fearfully stepping into that higher mountain of knowledge - Madrid -High. They were: Barbara Allen, Bruce Brown, Mary Jean Bullock, Glenda Colson, Wayne Craig, Donald Dedmore, Har- old Doerkson, Clifton Eastin, Thelma Erlewine, Jeanne Hoover, Verla Moller, Eldean Penner, Erma Alane Seiler, Vitula Snell, Myrtle Stubblefield, and Warren Weibel. It was during this year we enjoyed a most sophisticated party filling to high school standards. A weiner roast and hay-ride fwe forgot the weiners and broke the hayrackl. Our sponsor this year was Mary Clare Barteck. Our sophomore year found us, feeling forgotten, left out, and minus two of our members Verla Moller and Wayne Craig. No plays, no rings, no ban- quets, no fun. Our sponsor was Mrs. Ray S. Reith. Our Junior year found us without three of our members: Bruce Brown, Warren Weibel, and Harold Doerkson, Gloria Conrad left later in the year to attend school in Colorado. This year we presented our class play AUNT TILLIE GOES TO TOWN and gave our Junior-Senior Banquet featuring a SPANISH theme, this year we had formals, rings, flowers, and Oh Gee During this year our sponsor was Mrs. A. C. Adams. Senior year-Girls rule-reason: seven girls, two boys. This was our busiest year, getting out our annual, pre-'enting our play GONE W Zi THE GIRLS , planning a few other things, and seeing that the lower classmen walk the chalk line. n, Nvi- - f :4 'xi wf+,5ym,.,,Qvv W . f 'Ain Mk vu-51mn ,QQii 27' J .Ji 'K 4. -. 1 -X ' an fri, .1 .r The initiation in which we welcomed six freshrnen into Madrid High was centered around the idea of Friday the 13th. There is Marge Capp, an ambitious girl of seventeen who wants to be a radio announcer and every occasion is an opportunity to address her dear public . Next in line is Doris, who is 'interested mostly in worms which she brings into the house much to the disgust of the others. Eve is the spoiled brat of the family and she just lo-oeoves ice cream. Oh! yes, there is Sonny the one and only boy in the family. The children are all trying to break up their mother's engagement to a high society prig , Gregory Thatcher Van Stael. Ora, the maid, is really quite a comical person and it just makes people sick not to see her work. Mother Capp in one of her occasional moments of worrying about her family, decides they are not cultured or polished enough so she rushes to engage a companion and tutor for the children and a nurse for Gramps. By garr, just about forgot about Gramps the high light of the family who is interested in a little peace and quiet and to do anything that will keep Alecia from marrying that Van Stael. Well, the plans worked because Mother is now engaged to Captain 0'Malley of the police force. t. .14 L I at Yr, 4 NIP 51 4 . ' 'X w . -f -1. Hoping for a quiet time, he accepts and for a time tries to carry out the deception. Then Fred Smithie, the husband with many ail- ments, decides to liven up the party by having Harold make love to the various members of the household, playing up his passion for checker games as a reweard. All goes well until Harold actually falls for Barbara Hanson, an attractive grass widow, who is one of the guests. Complications begin and further involved by the arrival of Luch Srnithie's boy-friend, who wishes to elope with her. The'evening's activities are helped along by Mrs. George Wonder and her social tail-light of a hus- band, who never gets a chance to say a single word as long as she is there to say it for him. He does crash through with the key-:note comment on the whole proceeding, but not until Mrs. Smithie is driven to fainting hysterics. Lucy is believed kidnapped, her boy-friend nearly thrown into jail as a notorious criminal, Harold has his face slapped, Fred shoots himself with a shot gun, and general confusion reigns. The entire insane jumble made a hilarious evenings entertainment for the audience and a panic of laughs at the expense of the Junior Class. -ll- DRAMAT ICS Drarnatics was sponsored by Miss Hawthorne and Mrs. Houtz, Two one-act plays were given at the S.
