— MADRAS UNION HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTS 1963 MADRAS, OREGON DEDICATION VVc of the Hi-Sage staff respectfully dedicate this annual to our principal, Mr. Carl Rhoda. Mr. Rhoda has served Madras Union High School with dedication for the past 18 years. During his years at MUHS. Mr. Rhoda has endeared himself to hundreds of students. Before coming to Madras, he taught eight years at Halfway and was administrator there for three years. Mr. Rhoda graduated from Willamette University in Salem in 1936 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. While attending the University he was active in foootball and track. He came to Oregon from Fort Scott, Kansas, in a Model-A in 1933 while transferring from Fort Scott Junior college to Willamette. He had attended grammar school in Redfield, Kansas, and high school in Fort Scott. He earned his Master's degree from OSU in 1958. Elk hunting is one of his favorit pastimes, as are fishing and golfing. Mr. Rhoda married Janie Hobson in May, 1941, and they now have four children. They are Bobbie ’60; Rockne '61; Rhonda, freshman; and Carla, seventh grade. The first seniors graduated from MUHS in 1913. The class of ’63 marks our high school’s fiftieth group of graduates. We have planned this annual as a memory book of just one of the last fifty years - - - only a very small part of the life of Madras Unior High School. But this year has had an effect on our lives which can never be erased. We hope that this yearbook will serve as a reminder of a small and enjoyable segment of our lives.
