Goes To Work Constituting another activity was the clothing drive during which nine bags of clothing for the needy were filled. A charity basket was also filled and given to a local family in need as a Christmas gift. 1 These are just a few of the many worthwhile activities of the year. A large vote of appreciation and thanks to the Student Council for its fine job.

The Student Council Student-body elected student council members for 1958-59 were, seated, Chickie Fickes, treasurer; Dianne Corwin, secretary; Jack Markgraf, president; Anne Piedmont, White Buffalo editor. Standing Kelly McGreer, parliamentarian; Arlcn Hollingshead, Hi-Sage editor; Lane Nelson, advertising manager; Wayne Lee, concessions manager; Marvin Hoot, vice president. Student Council activities this year were many and varied. Early in the year several members attended a Regional Student Council meeting in Bend. They also initiated many groups to carry out activities of the student body. In the fall the council sponsored its annual magazine drive with freshman Shirley Brown securing top selling honors. Half of the proceeds from the sale went to help pay for the new printing press and the rest for new bleachers on the football field.

They Keep Us Going Working busily all morning to prepare the food, filling the trays during the noon hour and then cleaning up afterward keep Lydia Neimann, Hazel Ames and Jane Rhoda hopping in the MUHS cafeteria, (above). At left, taking a few minutes off from their busy work day to catch a glimpse of the World Series are Madras Hi’s custodians, Roy Clowers and Verl Ridgeway. Seeing to it that the high school students get to school each morning and home again at night is the duty of the five MUHS bus drivers (below). They are (1. to r.) Fred Burkin, Rod Thomas, Olny Sommers, Vern Moore and John Couch.
